Jigawa State Governor Badaru Abubakar has escaped a mob attack from suspected political opponents during his visit to Ringim town this weekend for a wedding fatiha.
Sahara Reporters correspondent reported that the incident occurred when the convoy of the governor followed Market Road, which is a hotbed of opposition.
The mob threw sachets of water at the governor, shouting, "Allah ya iya Badaru," meaning, "To hell with you, Badaru."
It was gathered that the police escort used tear gas to disperse the rampaging mobs.
When contacted over the incident, Mr. Abubakar's spokesperson, Malam Bello Muhamamd Zaki, debunked the claim by some people that the governor's convoy was stoned.
