Dokpesi vows not to step down for any candidate

High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the leading aspirant for the chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has vowed not to step down for any other candidate jostling for the position.

The owner of DAAR Communications, denying reports that he has withdrawn for Olabode George, a former vice-chairman of the PDP (South-west), said he, in fact, had been busy meeting with delegates across the country.

Dokpesi’s media team in statement said: “High Chief Dokpesi is busy meeting the delegates and outlining his programmes for the reformation and rebuilding of the PDP”.

“He is not considering stepping down for anyone as he is widely accepted by delegates across the country. He remains the candidate to beat” .

The team maintained that Dokpesi had visited sixteen states and will visit the remaining twenty states and the FCT before the convention.

Top contenders vying for the position include Chief Bode George, a former deputy national vice chairman of the party; Prince Uche Secondus, the immediate national vice chairman of the party; Cairo Ojougboh, the immediate past national vice chairman (south-south); Jimi Agbaje, the PDP governorship candidate for Lagos in 2015, Professor Tunde Adeniran and Senator Bode Olajumoke, a former senator and top ranking member of the party.
