Daily Post reports that about five members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Benue have been killed by unknown gunmen.
The report stated that the incident occurred in Kundav council ward of Ukum local government area of the state when the officers were in their office at Alabar.
The unknown gunmen riding on BAJAJ motorcycles were said to have killed the task force members on the evening of Thursday, 28 July.
The members killed include; Terkimbi Shimave, Commander, Sughter Gbamwuan, Torhile Ayom (aka Africa) alongside another unidentified person.
Recall that 250 former members of the CJTF have concluded military training and officially joined the Nigerian army.
The recruitment was announced by Kashim Shettima, the governor of Borno state, at the government house in Maiduguri on Friday, July 22.
Speaking on behalf of the the newly-recruited troopers Benjamin Solomon, the leader of the team and commander of the parade, said: “We are here to say thank for making us become soldiers of our great country.
“We thank the president and we thank our father, the Chief of Army Staff, who ensured that we are soldiers today. We are very many in the state and we are pleading that others too be given the same opportunity to become soldiers as well.”
